MakinaRocks to boost data center efficiency with AI
Integrating AI operations software with advanced data middleware to innovate and enhance data center capabilities
SEOUL, South Korea, August 14, 2024 — MakinaRocks, a leader in industrial AI, announced today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Onion Software, a leading provider of data center management solutions. Signed on August 14, the MOU marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing data center operational efficiency through advanced technologies.
Under this MOU, MakinaRocks and Onion Software will collaborate to integrate their expertise, combining MakinaRocks’ industrial AI technology with Onion Software’s advanced data middleware solutions. This partnership aims to accelerate the application of AI across various industries, including manufacturing, oil refining, semiconductors, and logistics.
The rapid expansion of the AI market underscores the critical role of data centers in delivering reliable AI services. According to Statista, a major market research provider, the global data center market is projected to reach $340 billion in 2024, with an annual growth rate of 6.65%, leading to a market volume of $438 billion by 2028.
MakinaRocks, renowned for deploying over 5,000 AI models in the manufacturing and industrial sectors, utilizes its AI platform ‘Runway’ to deliver domain-specific solutions, including energy control, predictive maintenance, digital twins, and robotics. The company also provides large language models (LLMs) to enhance AI capabilities for enterprise users, driving substantial AI transformation (AX) across industrial settings.
Onion Software, established in 2000, specializes in data center management solutions. With a strong presence in Korea, serving over 80% of large-scale data centers, and a growing global footprint since 2017, Onion Software offers full-stack solutions, including MK119 OpsWare, which is based on open APIs.

The partnership will be featured at the Korea Cloud & Datacenter Convention 2024 (KRCDC 2024) on August 23 at COEX. Chang Cho will present a keynote on “Data Center Operation Efficiency Leveraging AI Technology and Robots,” while Andre S. Yoon will outline the vision for AI Data Center (AIDC).
